I was all prepared to write a deep, meaningful entry which would generate discussion and at the same time amuse and entertain, but I just ran out of time tonight. It was going to be something really creative and thought-provoking and with no grammatical nor spelling errors. So here’s my official IOU…
In the meantime please enjoy some brain numbing random thoughts…
why do we have two nostrils? why couldn’t we just have one big one in the middle of our face?
i didn’t go to the dentist for 7 years and my first visit back, he found only 1 cavity. now that I go every 6 months, he finds something to “fix” everytime I’m there.
if ice didn’t expand as it froze, we would have no life on earth as we know it.
i went through a drive-thru yesterday and the first thing that I heard was a recording asking if i wanted a combo meal. I knew this was a recording and thought… you know you’d have to be pretty lazy to let a recording ask if you want a combo meal… i mean, is it really that hard to say? i should just bring a recording of me ordering just to get back at them.
people are sheep. cases in point… proliferation of all-wheel drive SUV’s in sunny Southern California, home makeover shows, Brittney Spears, waiting in line for overpriced coffee with more than 8 syllables in the name, “reality” tv, picture phones.
me go to sleep now.
Nate–I would take issue with the statement about the ice, considering that ice is not why we have life on earth.
Yes, you are correct childofgrace. It is not WHY we have life on earth – speaking from a theological point of view.
What I said was that we wouldn’t have life “as we know it.” I am definitely not discounting the fact that God not only uses natural law but is the maker of natural law. So to this end, yes, God not only created life, but used water as a facilitator of this life. And knowing this, he made the properties of water so that it would expand as it froze.
If water were to contract as it froze, like most other matter, it would sink. And thus never have the chance to melt. Each subsequent layer of water would freeze and sink. Soon all the water in the world would be only ice. This does not take into account that God would not create humans to not require water.
