In Case There Was Any Doubt

In a previous entry I mentioned how my brother and I have nearly identical speaking voices and that it has fooled a number of people in the past including my mother.  Well, now it seems that the same goes for my father.  This is a portion of an email that I received today from my brother:

Hey Nate,
How’s it going? So apparently I got the credit for calling dad this past week. I called mom on Sunday (thinking dad was still in China). And she told me he was back. I was surprised to hear that and she said “didn’t you talk to him?”. I told her that I didn’t and she said that it must have been you. Apparently, dad got off the phone and told her that it was me….ha ha.

I actually called my dad twice last weekend and each conversation was about 10 minutes long.  It’s kind of funny that through all that time not a word was said to clue me in that he thought I was my brother and not me.  Granted, he was still recovering from jet lag…

You know… Jacob and Esau come to mind here, actually.  It’s a good thing there’s no birthright to possibly steal in this case.  HAHA!

Coincidentally, I’ve been calling the west coast office of my company a lot recently because of a problem I’ve been working on.  In the last week, two different people thought I was this guy named Perry who works over there when they answered the phone.  I mean, there was no “is this Perry?” or anything.  They just started talking to me like I was him.  Funny thing is… Perry is a true California surfer-dude and talks like it.  He actually said to me once, “dude, I woke up early this morning and caught some b**chin’ waves before coming in to work…”

Dude…

  1. Haha – are you sure there’s no birthright?  Maybe your father has already blessed him with it  =)
Reminds me of a roommate of mine in college.  Whenever we’d get bored on the phone, we’d switch off the phone and talk to each other’s mothers, friends, etc.  Was pretty funny actually…
