Like Counting Jellybeans

UPDATE:

Okay, so here are the results:

Number of words:  160,000 (+/- 3%)
Number of entries:  298
Average # words per entry:  537

Which means that though Kwabert was closest with 184,334, Wumanjoo was closest without going over at 105,000.  Congratulations!  Email me your mailing address, so I can send you this $5 Starbucks card.

I was a bit shocked myself when I saw the numbers, considering the following:

Number of words in the New Testament: 181,253 (260 chapters)
Number of words in an average novel: 75,000

Yes, I am verbose.

Okay everybody, can anyone guess how many words I have written in this xanga since I started three years ago?  I actually archived it and cut and pasted the whole thing into MS Word to get my answer.  Now this doesn’t give me an exact number because it includes private entries and protected entries, but the official number will be the estimate I conclude.  This does not include comments.

I have a $5 Starbuck’s card for either the first person who gets it within 1000 words or whoever is closest without going over at the end of the week.  Only one guess per person.  Good luck.

btw, this “Choose Your Own Adventure” story is harder to do than I initially estimated.  I guess that’s what happens when you have exponential growth of choices as you go deeper into the story.  Think about it… if each story path is even only 5 pages deep with only 2 choices per page… that’s 2x2x2x2x2 = 32 pages!  What have I gotten myself into?

  1. hahhahah Tom’s too funny… My guess= 27,000Why?Your words for this entry= 173 (probably a rough estimate of how much or how little you write) x 52 (weeks in a yr assuming you update once a week)= 8996 X 3= 26988.

  2. wow…this is a toughie…some of your entries were long, but you also went without writing for days on end sometimes…my guess is 105,000 words.

  3. woo-hoo! =) i was actually going to guess a little higher, but chose to be somewhat more conservative. i should have gone with my initial guess!the starbucks will pay for one or two nights of all-nighters at seminary. haha.
